UNM Hospitals decreased number of candidates interviewed saving $157,500

UNM Hospitals hires about 1,300 to 1,500 new employees each year and before purchasing RIVS in 2017, the health system spent a lot of money on travel expenses to bring in several candidates for in-person interviews, especially for their Advanced Practice Provider (APP) division.

Phil Pelleriti, director of talent acquisition at UNM Hospitals, said that his recruiting department would foot the bill for these overwhelming travel expenses. The amount of money spent on travel expenses was cost-prohibitive for the recruiting budget, and Pelleriti was not able to spend on other necessary projects and expenses. Additionally, the amount of time spent on recruiting and bringing in candidates for in-person interviews was taxing on the health system’s hiring resources.
